Our Unknown Territory products are made in the north of Portugal. The production of the clothes in Europe has top priority for us for the following reasons:
The production can be visited by us at any time, so we can ensure a top quality of our products. Knowing the manufacturers of our pieces personally helps us to assure that all products are handmade and produced under fair conditions. Producing in Europe instead of overseas also ensures shorter transport distances, protects our environment and reduces our CO2 footprint.
In addition to the previously mentioned reasons, one of our founding members has Portuguese roots and it is therefore also a matter of the heart to strengthen the fashion sector in his home country. Unfortunately, the textile industry in Portugal has suffered a lot from the fashion industry's preference for cheap production in Asia. But in the meantime, there are increasing signs of a trend towards sustainable production under fair conditions in Europe.
